The older Babylonian system used across Indian numerology. Letters map to 1–8 by sound; no letter maps to 9, which is held sacred. Compound totals matter, and 11, 22, 33 stay unreduced.
Maps A–Z to 1–9 in alphabetical order. Simpler, common on Western sites — and it gives different numbers for the same name, so don't mix readings between systems.

If a name's total is 11, 22 or 33 it is kept as-is rather than reduced, since these carry their own meaning in numerology. Anything else reduces to a single digit.
